Biological Sciences Pavilion, UQAM

Construction of a new pavilion that blends with the art deco architecture of the Design Centre and the new ellipsoidal Science Complex building. The Biological Sciences Pavilion comprises towers varying between five and eight floors above ground and two levels below ground.

Services provided

  • Geotechnical study of the site; completion of ten deep drill holes and two exploratory drill holes; integration of previous geotechnical study findings

  • Quality control of various materials used in the tower structures

  • Supervising the installation of the waterproof membrane (garage and roof)

Project specifications

The complexity of the project lies in the deep drilling within an urban setting, in proximity to foundations of existing buildings, and in the large quantity of materials used in the construction of these buildings (e.g., about 15 different concrete mixes for a total quantity of 25,000 m3).
